Dry Needling

DN distance shot.png

Dry Needling is a treatment that can help a wide variety of people; including those with overuse injuries,  athletes, and people with chronic pain. Dry Needling has been found to be successful in the treatment of pain allowing for improved movement and function.

A typical treatment session begins with cleaning and prepping the area being treated.  Small needles are then placed into the muscle with a goal of releasing trigger points or more generically, relaxing the muscles.  The needles are left in place for a short period of time while you rest comfortably. Most patients don't even notice the needles are in place.  They are then removed and you are able to go on with your normal activities. You may experience a temporary period of increased soreness but this usually goes away within a few hours.

Patients can get relief in as little as one session but often takes multiple sessions to keep the trigger points at bay.  It is common for treatment to span from three to six weeks, being seen one to two times per week depending on your particular situation.

Dry needling is just one tool that physical therapists can use to help alleviate symptoms and help you reach your treatment goals.  This can be done in conjunction with physical therapy done at ours, or another facility. A short evaluation must be done prior to your first treatment with us to ensure safe and proper treatment.  We have options for pay by session or discount packages available.
